Creating a Web Site

New for 2011 - Group and Individual Web Sites will be in separate categories.

The web site category is constantly evolving.  To be sure you have the latest details, read the Contest Rule Book and National History Day (www.nhd.org/CategoryWebsite.htm).  The web site category is the most interactive of all NHD categories. Therefore, a web site should reflect your ability to use web site design software and computer technology to communicate the topic’s significance in history. Your historical web site should be a collection of web pages, interconnected by hyperlinks, that presents primary and secondary sources, interactive multimedia, and historical analysis. It should incorporate textual and non-textual (photographs, maps, music, etc.) descriptions, interpretations, and sources to engage and inform viewers. To construct a web site project, you must be able to operate, and have access to, the Internet, appropriate software and equipment.

To Begin Your Web Site:

Go to http://nhd.weebly.com/.  All NHD web site entries must be created using this site. Do NOT go to http://www.weebly.com.  (There must be NHD in the URL.)
This site has a demo video on how to use Weebly to create a NHD web site. Watch it before entering the site.  It will help you get started.
Once your ready to login, be sure to keep your username, password, and URL in a safe place.  You will need these!

If you have questions about the web site category, be sure to consult the Contest Rule Book then contact National History Day: Nebraska at amclaugh@nebrwesleyan.edu.
